Food in Communities ("FIC," "we," "us," or "our") is a regional collaborative supporting equitable food systems across Northwest Aurora, the City and County of Denver, and Jefferson County. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through our website, foodincommunities.org (the "Site"), how we use it, and the choices available to you.
This policy applies to the Site only. It does not cover the privacy practices of Food Justice Northwest Aurora, the Denver Department of Public Health and Environment, or Jefferson County Public Health as separate organizations, or of any third-party website we link to (including our funder or partner sites).
1. Information We Collect
a. Information you provide directly. When you use our Contact form, we collect the information you enter, which may include your name, email address, and the content of your message. We use this only to respond to your inquiry.
b. Information collected automatically. Our Site is built on the Wix website platform. Wix automatically places certain essential cookies and similar technologies on your device to operate the Site — for example, to enable basic navigation and security. We do not currently use Google Analytics, Meta (Facebook) Pixel, TikTok Pixel, or any other third-party analytics or advertising tracking tool. If we activate any such tool in the future, we will update this policy to name it and describe what it collects.
We do not currently run paid advertising or use advertising-network cookies. If this changes, we will update this policy.
c. Information we do not currently collect. We do not currently offer user accounts, logins, or a newsletter/email sign-up on this Site. Our Site platform includes donation and checkout features that are installed but not currently active or visible to visitors; no payment or donation information is being collected at this time. If we activate accounts, a newsletter, or donation/payment functionality in the future, we will update this policy beforehand to describe what is collected, how it's processed, and how it's protected.

We use the information described above to:

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share Contact form submissions with third parties except service providers who help us operate the Site (such as Wix, as our hosting/website platform) or as required by law.

Cookies are small text files placed on your device. At this time, our Site uses only essential cookies, placed automatically by Wix and required for the Site to function (for example, basic navigation and security). We do not currently use analytics, advertising, or marketing cookies.
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings at any time. Disabling essential cookies may affect how parts of the Site function. If we add analytics or marketing cookies in the future, we will update this section and add a cookie consent banner so visitors can manage their preferences.
4. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to know what information we have collected about you, request its deletion, or opt out of certain uses.
California residents: Under California law, you have the right to request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, and to request deletion of that information. We do not sell personal information and do not need to offer a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" opt-out because we do not engage in that activity.

5. Children's Privacy
Our Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
