On Tuesday, August 26, the Food in Communities (FIC) partnership, together with Mile High Farmers, hosted a farmer gathering, bringing together more than 30 farmers and food system partners from across Denver and Jefferson counties, at the height of the busy growing season.

We shared a delicious meal from Tocabe, an Indigenous-owned restaurant known for celebrating Native food traditions. The gathering created space for English speaking and Spanish speaking farmers to connect with one another, exchange knowledge, and reflect on practices like seed saving as harvest approaches. FIC also invited participants to complete the Denver Metro Farmer Survey, which asks about the challenges and opportunities farmers are facing. Fifteen surveys were collected on the spot, and FIC provided gift cards as a thank-you for farmers’ time and input.

For FIC, events like this are about more than just one evening together. They help build relationships, strengthen partnerships, and inform the work we do to support farmers across the Denver metro area. We’re grateful to Mile High Farmers for co-hosting this gathering and to all of the farmers who continue to lead the way in building a stronger, more resilient food system.
