JCPH Publishes 2025 Jefferson County Food Systems Funding Report

In 2025, Jefferson County invested $822,151 to strengthen the local food system, supporting both immediate food access and the long-term resilience of local agriculture.

The year also demonstrated why these investments matter. When SNAP benefits (federal food assistance) were delayed in November 2025, Jefferson County was able to respond quickly with emergency funding because strong partnerships, funding processes, and community relationships were already in place. At the same time, investments in local farms helped expand food production, improve infrastructure, and strengthen the systems that make fresh, local food available now and into the future.

The 2025 Jefferson County Food Systems Funding Report provides a snapshot of how these investments were made, who they supported, and the impact they had across the county. It also highlights an important challenge: while more than half of all funding requests were approved, less than one-third of requests focused on building long-term food system resilience could be funded.
