During the SNAP benefit delay in November 2025, the JCPH Food In Communities (FIC) team played a central role in the countywide emergency food access response, serving as a key source of subject matter expertise, coordinating across systems, and working closely with community partners.

In partnership with JCPH leadership, the Board of County Commissioners, Board of Health, and County Manager, JCPH FIC staff supported rapid decision-making and resource deployment, while working closely with internal partners (including Emergency Response staff, Business and Economic Development staff, Sheriff's Office, WIC, GIS, JCPH Communications, and more) and external partners such as the Jeffco Food Task Force, Feeding Jeffco Together, Food Bank of the Rockies, Nourish Colorado, Provecho Collective, Colorado Gives Foundation, and food pantries across the county to stabilize food access, reduce duplication of effort, and strengthen equitable response systems.

Through this collaborative effort, Jefferson County equitably distributed $500,000.00 in emergency funding to 23 food pantries across the county using trusted funding systems developed by the JCPH Food Systems Team. Beyond addressing the immediate crisis, this work strengthened Jefferson County’s long-term capacity to respond to future food system disruptions and reinforced food access as a critical public health priority.
